The UK is getting sunnier - Official!

11th Feb 2025

It may not always seem like it but according to the UK’s Met Office the number of sunny days in the UK has been rising since 1977. During the decade 2007-2016 there was the equivalent of 633 sunny days across most UK regions an increase compare to the previous two decades when the number of sunny days were 612 between 1997 and 2006 and 598 between 1987-1996. Last year is still among the years with the highest number of sunny days since 1929.

What does the next couple of months (in the UK) hold in store? Long-range predictions suggest Britain will bask in above-average temperatures towards the end of spring with plenty of sunshine during the countdown to summer. So let’s be optimistic – and keep our sunglasses close at hand!
