Blue light is emitted by digital screens (TV’s, smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets and gaming systems), LED and fluorescent lighting. Research studies have shown that exposure to the blue light resulting from extensive use of electronic devices or sitting in front of a computer for long periods can cause eye strain, mental fatigue and headaches. Prolonged exposure may lead to macular cellular damage which can lead to loss of vision. Blue light blockers come with both ‘plano’ lenses (no magnification) or a range of reading powers.
